Issues are more important than
candidates.
The Platform is the Blueprint for
the Next 4 years maybe even 8.
ISSUES AT HAND:
Priorities First:
1) End the war in 2 to 3 years
2) Continue to deal with the Housing Crisis.
3) New Orleans must be rebuilt and returned to the people who have lived there for generations.
4) Manage Inflation and Curb Unemployment. (Bush left a major deficit and National Debt) (Thanks.)
5) Let Health Care wait until the troops come home. (You can waste incredible amounts of time debating decisions that usually are made by people that don't answer to Washington.)
These next 4 years promise to be difficult.
NOt to much room to maneuver or get a hundred different programs through Congress.
It would be great if there was a chance to make significant changes to Health Care.
It would be great if we could create a brand new manufacturing sector overnight.
It would be very good - maybe even possible to put more teachers in our public schools and get them the support they have been needing.
BUT:
IF the next Administration manages to end the war 10 or 15 years ahead of schedule that will be just a bit short of miraculous considering how much money is behind finishing the war. Meaning taking over Iran. Taking over Pakistan. Taking over Kazakhstan. Moving more soldiers into Afghanistan.
That is so expensive, it is hard to even conceptualize.
But it is a bigger ticket item than anything else being done by the Government.
Ending the war is not just a single issue.
It is more like 100 issues under one seriously ugly umbrella - ella - ella...
Focus.
In hard times you can't start remodeling the whole house.
If it is Obama, and the first term goes moderately well and the economy stays afloat, then you can open up and build on solid ground.
The Prime Lending Rate is 2 point something percent. An all time low. If the people with bad loans - and that is lots of first time homeowners - need a better interest rate, you can't go below 0%.
Basically, Pendejo-san, neither Obama nor McCain is going to be looking at an easy ride.
Bush left the White House with an insane level of debt.
No room to move, really.
No gas in the car.
All credit cards maxxed out.
The "Decider" made some real real bad decisions, and left the next tenant a serious mess.
We got to get out of this war while the getting is sorta good.
That is actually going to cost the majority of energy available.
If there is some spare energy, here go some othe3r important ideas:
A) Put some money into Family Farms and Topsoil Erosion Control. (Try to get some agency other than FEMA to administer flood and hurricane relief, because FEMA sucks at it)
B) Start working on creating Manufacturing Jobs. We really are missing the boat on this and our balance of trade is getting worse every year. It may require some level of "protectionism" against foreign products that are made in sweatshops. You can't expect US workers to get paid like Chinese workers, etc. They won't make their rent. Some way or another, manufacturing is a vital part of every healthy economy and we are allowing all manufacturing to leave this country without a fight. This will take time but it would be good to start.
Thank you for listening.
