FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Did Bush Sell Drugs?

In “Bushido” New Novel Looks at Iran-Contra, Cocaine, Afghanistan, Heroin, Baseball, and the Spanglo-American Way of Life…

Madison, WI – ??? – Did Bush sell drugs out of Air Force One? In Bushido, an LA Police Officer teams up with a talk-radio DJ, and a college student from El Salvador to bring the truth to the attention of the nation. Will the story reach the public? Or will the bitter truth be silenced by the president’s men? Discover the intriguing events as they unfold in Bushido, a novel that tells the story of Iran-Contra from the perspective of a baseball player caught up in the middle of the chaos.

MIKE RUPPERTjoined the LAPD to fight the war on drugs. Street drugs, however, went from a serious problem to an out-of-control epidemic over the years. As Ruppert sets out to find the root of the problem, he stumbles upon an astounding discovery: U.S. government planes intended to fight forest fires making runs into Honduras, El Salvador, and Columbia, bringing back huge shipments of Cocaine to government-run bases in the US. The quantities were staggering. Ruppert decides to go public with the information and publishes his disturbing discovery on a website.

CASSIUS TIMMONSis a DJ who loves controversial subjects. He hosts a regular feature every morning called "Can I Ask the Question?" which deals with callers’ questions about practically anything — from the mundane and trivial to the controversial and sensational. One day, an unidentified caller calls in to ask the question "Did PRESIDENT GEORGE W. CRUSH sell drugs?" The switchboards light up. Before long, Ruppert calls in, and the search is on. ERNESTO, a young writer from El Salvador (who has come to make a movie in "Jollywood" about the murder of his aunt by the Salvadoran Death Squads), joins them and these unlikely partners bond together to find out the truth — and bring the case to national attention. Meanwhile, a baseball player named SALVADOR FUENTES makes his way to the US to play in the Majors after serving in the military on the American side of the air war. A bombing run killed his wife and children while he was on duty. He picks up the pieces of his life and eventually becomes third base coach for the Washington Nationals. When the President comes to throw out the first pitch on opening day, all hell breaks loose when they exchange words and get in a fight that clears the benches and sends Salvador to Guantanamo Bay as a terrorist.

An absorbing, fast-paced read, Bushido (based on true story) will certainly provoke discussions and spark debates. Unravel the hidden realities and join the DJ in his quest for the truth! A masterfully written novel that touches on the war in Iraq and Afghanistan, and emphasizes the serious effects of the war - including the sharp increase in heroin imports. The author skillfully interweaves the deeper realities throughout the story, leaving it up to the readers to read between the lines, and also come to grips with the effects of previous administrations’ foreign policy. Drug production is rising dramatically, and our Government claims ignorance. How do the different cultures that make up America see this? In the end, it sometimes only takes one simple question to bring focus. Did Bush do it or not? A tiny spark. Will the DJ succeed in exposing the secret government drug ring? Find out in Bushido!
